DATA-642 Advanced Machine Learning (3)


This course focuses on recent advances in machine learning such as Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), Graph Representation Encoder-Decoder Networks, and Tensor/Matrix Factorization Methods. The course covers theoretical foundations as well as methods used in advanced machine learning that have achieved a considerable attention in this field and led to a great deal of industrial and academic interest. The course introduces the mathematical definitions of the relevant machine learning models and derive their associated optimization algorithms. It covers a range of applications of advanced machine learning in natural language processing as well as political and social sciences. Crosslist: DATA-442 . Prerequisite: STAT-627 .
