SOCY-453 Intersectionality: Theory and Practice (3)


This course examines intersectionality as both a conceptual framing and an analytical tool that has developed into a broad web of theory and practice examining how race, class, and gender interconnect in meaningful and complex ways in identities, interactions and institutions. The focus includes important epistemological assumptions of intersectionality, as well as contemporary challenges such as recognition of positionalities ignored in initial framings of intersectionality, including age, citizenship, disability, and sexuality.
