STAT-203 Basic Statistics with Calculus (4)


A calculus-based introduction to basic statistics including data presentation, display and summary, correlation, development of least squares regression models, probability, independence, probability density functions, moments, use of moment generating functions, sampling distributions, confidence intervals, and tests of significance. Concepts are explored through simulation and the use of the calculus tools of finding maxima and minima of a function and the area under a curve. AU Core Foundation: Quantitative Literacy I. Usually Offered: fall and spring. Prerequisite: MATH-221 . Restriction: Registration not allowed in both STAT-203, and STAT-202  or STAT-204 . Note: Students may not receive credit toward a degree for both STAT-203, and STAT-202  or STAT-204 .
