Surveys visual and material culture of China from the perspective of globalization. Covering painting, calligraphy, decorative arts, and archaeological artifacts from the Neolithic period to the contemporary era, the course historicizes the construction of "Chineseness" and enhances student understanding of Chinese art from local and global perspectives.
