DATA-645 Neural Networks and Deep Learning (3)

This course focuses on the foundations of deep learning and on deep learning methods with applications to computer vision, time series, and text. Students obtain practical experience in building neural networks using modern libraries in Python. It works up to state-of-the-art techniques that have received considerable attention by academia and industry. Students learn to identify scenarios for which deep learning can be used, and its limitations. The course covers a range of applications such as image classification, timeseries forecasting, and text classification. Crosslist: DATA-445 . Prerequisite: CSC-680 , CSC-681 , DATA-642 , or STAT-627 . Note: Experience in Python is helpful but not required.
