LIT-225 African Literature FA1

(3)

This course looks at a range of fiction from across the African continent. The course examines the ways that African literature reacts to and records various crises that have shaped the continent, including colonialism, civil war, structural adjustment, racism, AIDS, etc., but also moves beyond the rhetoric of crises to highlight the "poetics of survival" that underpin much African literary production. Usually offered every fall.
