Examines theories of the nature, purpose, and meaning of artistic activities and objects through the religious, cultural, and philosophical contexts in which they arose. Both Western and non-Western expressions and viewpoints are considered. Student projects explore the relationship between particular works familiar to them and their role in religious expression. Usually offered every term.
