BIO-685 Bioinformatics (3)


The modern genomics era requires that biologists understand bioinformatics, the computational analysis of large biological data sets. In this course, lectures introduce methods and concepts, and techniques are applied t during a computer lab. Course topics include sequence retrieval/alignment, Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST), an algorithm for comparing primary biological sequence information, gene prediction, phylogenetics, and bio informatics programming in Perl. Meets with BIO-485 . Usually offered alternate falls.
