JLC-352 Psychiatry and the Law (3)Basic psychiatric principles including contemporary views of causes, manifestations, patterns, and treatments of psychiatric and behavioral disorders; trends in the use of psychiatric resources to deal with deviant behavior within and without the criminal justice system. Includes incompetence as bar to trial, insanity as defense, civil commitment, drug addiction, alcoholism, psychiatry in processing and treating juvenile offenders, and rehabilitative efforts of the corrections system.
