TEFL-620 English as a Foreign Language Teaching Practicum (3)


This course serves as a bridge between the theory and practice of the MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) program and actual classroom practices. The course helps students learn through reflection who they are as a teacher and the sociocultural environment of English language teaching, and from this base, gain practice in thinking about the wide range of pedagogical, contextual, and sociopolitical considerations and decisions that make EFL teaching a complex and situated process. Additionally, the course focuses on a review of current trends in classroom practice to provide students with practical classroom teaching tools. Course activities include exploring case studies, reviewing and analyzing lessons and materials, and analyzing and discussing teaching videos. Students complete a  40-hour teaching practicum. Grading: A-F only. Prerequisite: TEFL-610 TEFL-611 , TEFL-612 , TEFL-613 , TEFL-614 , TEFL-615 , TEFL-617 , TEFL-618 , and TEFL-619 .
