PHYS-326 Physics for Future Presidents (3)


Through this course students gain both a conceptual and quantitative understanding of the various aspects of physics that are critical for informed decision making in the realm of public policy. Topics covered include the physics of energy; electricity; nuclear reactions; quantum mechanics; waves and light; and gravity. The course examines how physics influences public policy decisions on energy sources, foreign policy, transportation, information, military affairs, disaster prevention, and other areas of public interest. Guest lecturers knowledgeable in both physics and policy provide different points of view. AU Core Integrative Requirement: Quantitative Literacy II. Prerequisite: completion of Quantitative Literacy I  requirement.
