This course emphasizes four persistent themes in biogeography: classifying geographic regions based on their biota; reconstructing the history of biota; explaining the differences in numbers as well as types of species among geographic areas; and explaining geographic variation in the characteristics of individuals and populations of closely-related species. Usually offered alternate springs. Prerequisite: BIO-110 and BIO.
