GOVT-240 Metropolitan Politics (3)


This course explores the political development of municipalities, counties, and metropolitan areas of the United States. The course examines the historic and contemporary interactions of ethnic and racial groups in metropolitan areas, and how these groups have shaped the political organizations and governing structures that prevail on the local level. Students are assigned readings and view documentaries that are relevant to the various time periods covered in the course. They also do individual readings whose concepts they present to the class and in writing. AU Core Habits of Mind: Cultural Inquiry. Usually Offered: fall and spring.
