GOVT-335 Democratization: Theory and Practice (3)


An exploration of the causes and outcomes of the most recent wave of global democratization since the late twentieth century. After an initial focus on different conceptualizations of democracy, the course addresses the latest wave of democratization and compares it to earlier waves of these changes. The course considers changes in governing institutions which accompany democratic change, and whether such changes carry implications for the quality of governance of nations.
