SOCY-611 Social Theory: From Classical to Contemporary Thinkers (3) This course exposes students to major Western social thought from the foundational works of Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Emile Durkheim to contemporary thinkers such as Michel Foucault, Pierre Bourdieu, and Erving Goffman. Numerous other theorists who impact thinking about social and political worlds are also covered. The course helps students to formalize their thinking about the social worlds they are exploring.
