WSEM-441 Human Development and Global Issues (4)


This course explores local, national, and global human development and considers key actors and their relative and primary capacities and strategies for making change, along with key challenges, common best practices in the field, strategies for creating effective change, and current events. Topics include inequality, poverty, gender, consumption, conflict, and success stories. Students gain an understanding of the interconnections between development concerns while recognizing their complexity at local, national, and global levels and interact with practitioners who work on these issues. The course combines lectures, guest speakers, and site visits with active student engagement in learning. Restriction: Washington Semester Program .
