Origins and historical development of American cinema, specifically the theatrical feature-length fiction film from the nineteenth century to 1970. Hollywood films as mythic representations of the way Americans viewed themselves. Films are watched, discussed, and analyzed. Screenings are scheduled in addition to class sessions.
