RELG-220 Religious Ethics FA2 (3)

What role the idea of the divine–God, Dharma, Fate–has played in how humans understand and employ ethical decisions is considered in this course, as well as recognizing how ideas about the divine have and continue to shape the nature of ethics. Through immersion into the religious context of ethical choice, students become equipped to render decisions, thoughtfully and rationally, which are rooted in the literature and tradition of the respective religion and its community. These decisions range from the transitional (e.g., sexual behavior, material possessions) to the conclusive (e.g., euthanasia, war, abortion). AU Core Habits of Mind: Ethical Reasoning. Usually Offered: spring.
