Focus on contemporary social theories including postmodernism, feminism, neo-functionalism, rational choice, world-systems, and neo-Marxism. Traces relation–continuity and rupture–of current issues to classical traditions and important thinkers in social theory. Emphasis on issues of theory construction, evaluation, and critique.
