EDU-772 Writing in the Secondary Classroom (3)

This course prepares participants for the thoughtful examination of writers and writing instruction. Throughout the course, participants are introduced to strategies and skills they can use to enhance their own writing and the writing of their students. Using a process approach and workshop model, participants learn how to teach students to communicate ideas effectively in a variety of genres, for different purposes, and for diverse audiences. Explicit attention is paid to reading and writing connections, and technology is used to explore new literacy practices. Data is used to plan lessons, monitor progress, provide on-going feedback, and differentiate instruction. Grading: A-F only. Restriction: Teaching (MAT) [City Teaching Alliance].
