WGSS-355 Latina/o/x Sexualities (3)

This course explores the construction of Latinx sexualities, and is located at the crossroads of fields, identities, and needs of Latinx populations historically and today. Chicanx, Puerto Rican, and Latinx populations in the United States have been studied for decades and often with sensationalizing or pathologizing lenses. In response, Latinxs have produced a distinctive field going through but critiquing machismo and familismo as lenses which reflect the racialization of U.S. Latinx populations instead of describing culture. An interdisciplinary course, topics range from intersectionality, transnational and migratory experiences, religion, education, and others across the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
