COMM-533 Ethics in Strategic Communication (3) This course focuses on ethical issues and public and social responsibility in the practice of strategic communication. Students consider the power and impact of strategic communication in different settings both national and international. They examine and apply professional ethical standards in public relations, advertising, and media, consider legal concepts and regulations that inform ethical decision-making in public relations and other forms of strategic communication, and review concepts and best practices in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Through readings, class discussions, case studies/scenarios, and debates, students explore a range of perspectives and decision-making processes related to ethics and responsible advocacy in strategic communication.
