GOVT-711 Seminar in American Politics (3) This course introduces students to the field of U.S. politics and serves as preparation for the U.S. politics field exam, covering canonical works with an eye toward recent developments. The course covers a wide range of topics in the study of U.S. politics, including American political culture and traditions, major political institutions, federalism and state and local politics, political parties, interest groups, voter turnout, elections, public opinion, inequality, and democratic responsiveness. Restriction: PhD program.
