SPAN-654 Latin American Documentaries (3) This course examines how documentary works (film, theater, urban intervention, and photography) shape new modes of self-expression and activism, unsettle divisions between fact and fiction, and engage discourses of activism, gender and racial justice, history, and the law. During the course, students acquire an overview of the specific artistic and political movements and influences that have shaped documentary film and theater in Latin America since the 1960s. Students also become familiar with the fundamental theories that have contributed to defining documentary discourse both generally and specifically in Latin America. Crosslist: SPAN-454 .
