EDU-657 Education in Emergencies (3)

This course introduces theory, policy, and practice in the nascent and evolving field of education in emergencies. Students examine diverse crisis settings, including acute and protracted conflict, climate-induced forced displacements, and public health crises across the humanitarian-development continuum. Students build theoretical knowledge and practical skills, including program design, monitoring, evaluation, policy analysis, and writing skills through critical texts, mini-lectures, student presentations, guest speakers, and a final project. Students learn how to apply these theories and practical skills critically toward socially just and equitable education opportunities for refugees and other crisis-affected populations. Grading: A-F only.
