HIST-405 Forced Migration (3) Assessing diverse twentieth-century European and global contexts, this course examines how extreme ideology, violence, war, and revolutions have fueled forced migrations. Legal definitions and theories concerning politicized terms such as ethnic cleansing and genocide are accompanied by examination of both perpetrator intentions and human experiences by victims. Readings and writing assignments also reflect upon longstanding cultural consequences, including cleansed identities, landscapes, and memory narratives. Crosslist: HIST-605 .
