EDU-421 Early Childhood Development (3) This course introduces students to the principles of child development including the physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and linguistic development of children from birth to eight years old within the context of family, culture, language, community, and early learning settings. Students investigate the impacts of the larger societal context and structural inequities on the development of children and explore connections and distinctions between general developmental theory and individual children. Students understand the foundational theoretical lens of young children’s learning and apply it to a practical approach in the young children’s classroom.
