Honors in Literature

Available through the Department of Literature , College of Arts and Sciences , the Honors in Literature program offers students the opportunity to enhance their engagement with literary study. Honors in Literature students develop their theoretical, historical, and interdisciplinary expertise in preparation for advanced or graduate level work in their discipline.

Admission to the Program
Students should apply for admission in the spring of sophomore year; under exceptional circumstances, application could be made in the junior year.
Application should include: a letter of recommendation from a faculty member; a statement that describes the student’s qualification for inclusion in the program, academic background, preparation, areas of interest, and professional goals; and transcript.
Program Requirements
- 11 credit hours in Honors in Literature coursework
- Minimum 3.67 major GPA in Literature (BA)
