Admission to the Program

Formal admission to the major requires a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale) and departmental approval.

120 credit hours with minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA (Undergraduate Academic Regulation 2 )
Completion of all requirements for a major (Undergraduate Academic Regulation 9 )

Completion of AU Core foundation requirements (Undergraduate Academic Regulation 8.2-8.6 )
Completion of AU Core Habits of Mind requirements (Undergraduate Academic Regulation 8.7 )
Completion of AU Core integrative course requirements (Undergraduate Academic Regulation 8.8-8.11 )

53 credit hours with grades of C or better, including 22 credit hours at or above 300-level

Complete 4 credit hours from the following:

Complete 3 credit hours from the following:

Complete one of the following tracks:

Complete 9 credit hours from the following or approved coursework in mathematics, computer science, statistics, or an application area:

Note: CSC-281 may count toward this requirement.

9 credit hours of approved mathematics or statistics coursework at or above 300-level

In addition to meeting the minimum university requirements for combined bachelor’s/master’s programs:

Students are encouraged to contact the Statistics (MS) program director as early in their undergraduate study as possible
Applicants should have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 in major courses and complete MATH-401 Probability (3) and STAT-402 Introduction to Mathematical Statistics (3) by the end of the junior year

In addition to meeting the minimum university requirements for combined bachelor’s/master’s programs:

Students are encouraged to contact the Professional Science: Biostatistics (MS) program director as early in their undergraduate study as possible
Applicants should have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 and complete MATH-221 Calculus I (4) , MATH-222 Calculus II (4) , and two courses in statistics by the end of the junior year
