International Accelerator Program (Undergraduate)

Website: https://accelerator.american.edu/undergraduate-accelerator/

Offered by the Office of Global & Immersive Studies , the undergraduate International Accelerator Program (IAP) is a non-degree academic pathway program for international students seeking to develop the required English proficiency to be admissible to degree programs at American University. The program is comprised of two distinct tracks: Extended Accelerator and Academic Accelerator. Within the Academic Accelerator, students with higher language proficiency will be placed in a sub-track, the Advanced Academic Accelerator. Students are placed in a program track based on English language proficiency level. IAP helps to ease the transition for international students to American University by combining credit-bearing academic courses from the first year of the degree with additional support, teaching, and cultural experiences. The Extended Accelerator Program is a four-term program during which students earn a minimum of 24 credits transferable to an undergraduate degree. The Academic Accelerator is a three-term program during which students earn a minimum of 24 credits transferable to an undergraduate degree.

Undergraduate courses are offered at two levels: ELTA Level 4 and ELTA Level 5. For more information, go to https://accelerator.american.edu/undergraduate-accelerator/pre-sessional-english/.
