Offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics , College of Arts and Sciences .

Admission to the Program


Formal admission to the major requires a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale) and departmental approval.

Students who wish to obtain credentials for teaching grade 7-12 mathematics may also complete a second major in the School of Education . For information on admission to the program requirements, see Secondary Education (Second Major Only) .

  • 51 credit hours with grades of C or better, including at least 32 credit hours at or above 300-level
  • Specializations: Pure Mathematics; Secondary Education
