Honors in Economics


Available through the Department of Economics , College of Arts and Sciences , the Honors in Economics program provides several opportunities for outstanding students to engage in economic research with the department faculty.

Admission to the Program


Students seeking admission to the Honors in Economics program must have a declared major in Economics (BA) , Economics (BS) , or Mathematics and Economics (BS) ; a minimum 3.70 GPA in the major core courses of ECON-100 Macroeconomics (3) , ECON-200 Microeconomics (3) , ECON-300 Intermediate Microeconomics (3) /ECON-400 Intermediate Microeconomics with Calculus (3) , ECON-301 Intermediate Macroeconomics (3) /ECON-401 Intermediate Macroeconomics with Calculus (3) , and STAT-202 Basic Statistics (4) /STAT-203 Basic Statistics with Calculus (4) /STAT-204 Introduction to Business Statistics (4) ; and submit a written proposal. The written proposal should list all ECON courses completed with individual grades, include a calculated major GPA, describe the student’s professional/graduate school aspirations and how the Honors in Economics program helps them achieve these goals, and identify a faculty mentor.

Complete 3 credit hours from the following, or approved upper-level ECON  coursework with honors supplement:
