Honors in Anthropology

Available through the Department of Anthropology , College of Arts and Sciences , the Honors in Anthropology program provides an opportunity for students wanting to engage with Anthropology more deeply than in the regular major.

Admission to the Program
Students must apply for admission by May 1 of their sophomore year. Transfer students must apply during their first year of residence at AU.
Students seeking admission to the program must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and a major GPA of 3.67 or higher. The application must include a clear, well-written essay expressing a central interest in Anthropology and pursuing Honors in Anthropology. Students seeking admission must have completed or be enrolled in all required major courses except ANTH-453 Senior Seminar in Anthropology (3) and ANTH-452 Anthropological Research Methods (3) .
Program Requirements
- 15-18 credit hours of Honors in Anthropology coursework
- Minimum 3.67 major GPA in Anthropology (BA)
Required (6-9 credit hours)
Electives (6 credit hours)
Complete 6 credit hours from the following, or other approved courses:
Capstone (3 credit hours)
