Neuroscience (MS)

Offered by the Department of Neuroscience , College of Arts and Sciences , the Neuroscience (MS) is only open to students enrolled in the Behavior, Cognition, and Neuroscience (PhD) 

Admission to the Program


The Neuroscience (MS) degree is only awarded en passant to eligible students enrolled in the Behavior, Cognition, and Neuroscience (PhD)  program. Separate application to the Neuroscience (MS) is not offered. 

Degree Requirements


  • 30 credit hours of approved graduate work
  • Capstone Experience: Completion of the thesis

Course Requirements


Research Methods (3 credit hours)


Statistics (3 credit hours)


Complete 3 credit hours from the following:

Note: Prerequisite statistics courses can be taken and may only count towards the Electives requirement. The program recommends that students with no background or prior courses in statistics take STAT-614 Statistical Methods (3)  in addition to the required 3 credit hours of statistics courses.

Elective (3 credit hours)


Complete 3 credit hours from the following, or other graduate-level courses approved by the BCaN Director and faculty advisor:

Note: Students may not use NEUR-797 Master’s Thesis Research (1-3)  or NEUR-799 Doctoral Dissertation Research (1-6)  to fulfill this area.

Thesis (9 credit hours)
