Antiracist Administration, Supervision, and Leadership (Graduate Certificate)

Offered by the School of Education , this post-masters certificate program is designed for students wanting an approved Program of Study for pre-K-12 administration, supervision, and/or leadership endorsement. It prepares antiracist education leaders with the required content and knowledge as well as the necessary mindset shift to dismantle racist practices and policies in the classrooms, schools, and districts. This program provides an exciting learning experience that combines rigorous academic work with actual practice.

Admission to Program
Open to students with a master’s degree or currently working on a master’s degree from an accredited institution; certification as a teacher or education professional (e.g., counselor, psychologist), and at least two years of school based teaching, instructional leadership, or pupil services experience. Substitute teaching experience does not apply.
Certificate Requirements
- 18 credit hours with grades of C or better
- Students enrolled in a master’s program at American University and simultaneously enrolled in the graduate certificate may share up to 9 credit hours of graduate work with the approval of the program advisor
- Compliance with all regulations for a certificate (Graduate Academic Regulations 4.11 , 5 , 6 )
