Admission to the Program
Open to all students who have completed CHIN-313 Advanced Chinese II (3) or equivalent. Equivalency is determined in consultation with faculty advisor. Non-native English speakers not enrolled in an American University degree program are required to submit results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) unless they hold a degree from a U.S.-accredited institution before enrollment in the translation certificate program.
Before commencing the program, students should consult the appropriate advisor in the Department of World Languages and Cultures to plan out their program of study.
Certificate Requirements
- 15 credit hours with grades of B or better for required courses and a grade of C or better for elective courses
- For elective courses, students complete an additional translation project beyond the normal course requirements and must receive a satisfactory evaluation for their project. Students are only permitted to do these translation projects after having completed at least one of the first two required courses
- Compliance with all regulations for a certificate (Undergraduate Academic Regulation 10.3 )

Complete 3 credit hours from the following: Electives (6 credit hours)
Complete 6 credit hours from the following if not taken to fulfill Upper-Level Chinese, or other approved Chinese topics courses at or above 400-level: |
