Admission to the Program
Formal admission to the major requires a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale) and departmental approval. University Requirements
- 120 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or better
- Completion of college writing requirement
- Completion of university mathematics requirement
General Education Requirements
- A total of ten courses, consisting of two courses from each of the five foundational areas
- At least one course from Area Five: The Natural and Mathematical Sciences must include a laboratory science component
- No more than two courses may be taken in the same discipline
Major Requirements
- 53 credit hours with grades of C or better, including 32 credit hours of core coursework and 21 credit hours in track coursework, and at least 22 credit hours at or above the 300-level
- Tracks: Applied Statistics, Data Science, or Mathematical Statistics

Complete one of the following: Mathematics or Statistics
- 3 credit hours of approved coursework in mathematics or statistics
Related Field
- 12 credit hours of approved coursework in a related field
Additional
Complete 9 credit hours from the following or approved coursework in mathematics, computer science, statistics, or an application area: Statistics
- 6 credit hours of approved statistics coursework at or above the 300-level
Note: STAT-514 may not be used to satisfy this requirement. Mathematics or Statistics
- 9 credit hours of approved mathematics or statistics coursework at or above the 300-level
