SPAN-321 Heritage Spanish I (3) This course is designed specifically for native or heritage speakers of Spanish with some proficiency but little or no formal training in the language. Heritage speakers are those students who have been raised in homes where Spanish was spoken and whose schooling has for the most part been in English in the United States. The course builds on the Spanish that students already know, to strengthen reading, writing, and speaking skills, as well as grammar and vocabulary for use of the language in formal and academic settings. This course also functions as an intellectual space to facilitate student sharing and appreciation of their cultural and linguistic experiences and aptitudes. Usually Offered: fall. Permission: instructor.
