AMST-260 Asian American Experiences (3)


The course explores the lives, thoughts, history, and culture of Asian Americans by examining materials drawn from diverse fields including oral and immigration history, social theory, media, film, and arts. This interdisciplinary course not only examines the lives of Asian Americans in the United States but also provides a case study of the lives of racially marginalized groups in the United States and the influence of the racial politics on Asian Americans in particular and on minority groups in general in our society. Racial prejudice, social oppression, discrimination, and the creativity and uniqueness of the Asian-American culture and struggle to develop identity are all parts of discussion in this course.
