ARTH-211 Ethics of Art Museums (3)

Many of the objects on display in art museums today were not meant to be seen in them. Why, then, were public museums established and what ethical questions do they raise? Through readings, site visits, and probing discussions, this course examines the museum as a site of aesthetic contemplation, cultural preservation, education, and business. The course familiarizes students with the fields of art, law, ethics, and museums and the relationships among them. AU Core Habits of Mind: Ethical Reasoning.
