CHIN-435 Chinese Media and Political Translation (3)

This course introduces the styles and conventions of media Chinese focusing on current affairs and political events. The course focuses on reading and translating sociopolitical texts and current periodical publications. Students examine the idioms, terms, and syntactic patterns of political media in Chinese. The class also introduces methods and techniques involved in translation as well as interpretation between Chinese and English. By learning more about the parallels and differences between Chinese and English texts, students also investigate the different political cultural patterns behind the two languages. Prerequisite: CHIN-313.
