SPAN-410 Community Interpreting (3)

The linguistic, cultural, and systemic barriers experienced by many Spanish speakers in the United States seriously limit their access to healthcare, education, and legal services, creating the need for qualified community interpreters that can walk the thin line between acting as mere conduits versus linguistic clarifiers, cultural brokers, and even advocates. In response to this need, this course trains students with advanced Spanish proficiency in the fundamental techniques of community interpreting. Crosslist: LING-410. Usually Offered: fall.
