CHIN-350 Introduction to Classical Chinese (3)

This course introduces students to the grammar of Classical Chinese, including commonly used vocabulary, through the reading of selected canonical texts that have exerted great influence on premodern and modern Chinese societies. The texts include Chinese fables, The Analects of Confucius (Lunyu), Mencius (Mengzi), The Book of Rites (Liji), Laozi and Zhuangzi (two Taoist classics), and The Art of War (Sunzi bingfa). Students gain a better understanding of traditional Chinese culture, literature, philosophy, history, and a more solid mastery of Modern Chinese. Prerequisite: CHIN-312 .
