IGP-102 Post-World War II American Film and Culture Studies

(3)

By viewing and discussing two films about each decade since World War II, students observe the evolution of U.S. culture, history, and society over the past seven decades. Each week students watch a film and read a complementary chapter from the course text. Class discussions and student presentations on the decade’s key events and people help to identify and understand the zeitgeist of the era. Films include The Best Years of Our Lives, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and The Kids are All Right. Usually offered every term. May be taken A-F only. Prerequisite: permission of program director.
