ANTH-541 Public Anthropology and State Policy (3) This course traces shifting relationships among governments, anthropologists, and ordinary people. Readings and class discussions explore the rise of “applied” anthropology as part of the processes of colonialism and capital accumulation. Also covered are colonial encounters, immigration and internment, neocolonialism, and structural adjustment.
