ARTH-415 Museums and Society (3)

Explores the intersection of the museum and its public from the late eighteenth century to the present. Topics include the formation of collections and organization of exhibitions; changing modes of display; architecture and wall text; the economics of the art world; politics and cultural property; and race, gender, and national identity. Meets with ARTH-615. Usually offered alternate springs. Prerequisite: ARTH-105 and ARTH-210.
