ITEC-636 Management Information Systems for Public and Nonprofit Organizations (3)


This course covers the theoretical, technological, practical, and managerial foundations of management information systems. Includes the role of information technologies in organizations, strategies for systems development, the impact of information systems (IS) on public organizations, information technology (IT) as a strategic tool, and the management of information systems within domestic and global enterprises. The course introduces students to current systems and software, as well as ethical and social issues, managing data, information, and knowledge, the influence of the Internet on government and social systems, electronic collaboration, global telecommunications, decision making and IT, and managing international IS. Note: for nonbusiness graduate students only.
