Honors in Mathematical Sciences

Admission to the Program
Students seeking admission to the Honors in Mathematical Sciences program must have completed at least 45 credit hours; achieved a minimum 3.70 cumulative GPA and minimum 3.75 major GPA; completed at least two MATH or STAT courses at or above 300-level; arranged for a department faculty member to send an admission endorsement; and sent a one-page application essay.
Transfer students are eligible for admission if their overall undergraduate record is deemed equivalent to the above requirements.
Any student seeking admission should consult with the department’s Honors Coordinator.
Program Requirements
- 6-9 credit hours of Honors in Mathematical Sciences coursework
- 6 credit hours in MATH or STAT coursework at 400-level (with honors supplement) or 500-level with grades of B or better; this coursework may not fulfill another honors program’s requirements
- 0-3 credit hours in approved capstone project, with formal report and presentation to the department; this project may not fulfill a major or other honors program’s requirements
- Minimum 3.70 major GPA in Applied Mathematics (BS) , Computational Science (BS) , Mathematics (BS) , Mathematics and Economics (BS) , or Statistics (BS)
- Minimum 3.70 cumulative GPA

Complete 6 credit hours from the following, with grades of B or better, and honors supplements for courses at 400-level:
