Admission to the Program
Formal admission to the major requires a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale) and departmental approval. University Requirements
- 120 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or better
- Completion of college writing requirement
- Completion of university mathematics requirement
General Education Requirements
- A total of ten courses, consisting of two courses from each of the five foundational areas
- At least one course from Area Five: The Natural and Mathematical Sciences must include a laboratory science component
- No more than two courses may be taken in the same discipline
Major Requirements
- 53 credit hours with grades of C or better; 38 credit hours of core coursework and 15 credit hours in track coursework
- Tracks: Mathematical Statistics, or Applied Statistics

Tracks
Complete one of the following:
Mathematical Statistics (15 credit hours)
- 6 credit hours of approved statistics coursework at the 300-level or above
- Note: STAT-514 may not be used to satisfy this requirement.
- 9 credit hours of approved mathematics or statistics coursework at the 300-level or above
- Note: CSC-281 may count toward this requirement. STAT-514 may not be used to satisfy this requirement.
Applied Statistics (15 credit hours)
- 3 credit hours of approved coursework in mathematics or statistics
- 12 credit hours of approved coursework in a related field
Combined BS in Mathematics or Statistics and MS in Statistics
